To find out whether the support rollers are worn out, you must remove the dryer belt and try to turn the drum by hand. If the drum does not rotate without difficulty, examine the drum rollers for wear. If one or more of the rollers is damaged, then you should replace them all just in case.

Cause 3 – Drum Roller Axle

The majority of dryers have two drum rollers axle on the back of the drum, however, some dryers have two additional rollers on the front of the drum. If they are working property, these rollers will rotate without difficulty. Regular use can damage the drum roller axles, causing the rollers to bind. If the rollers are damaged or binding, the motor will be unable to make the drum turn. To determine whether the support rollers are damaged, remove the dryer belt and try to turn the drum by hand. If the drum does not rotate without difficulty, examine the drum rollers for signs of damage. If the rollers rotate without difficult and do not wobble, then they are functioning properly. On other hand, if a roller wobbles or does not spin without difficulty, then you should replace all of the axles and rollers just in case.

Cause 4 – Drum Bearing

The drum bearing supports the back of the dryer drum. Regular use can cause damage to the drum bearing. If the drum bearing is damaged, the dryer drum may fail to turn. To determine whether the drum bearing is damaged, you must remove the dryer belt and try to turn the drum by hand. If the drum rotates without difficulty, it is unlikely that the drum bearing is damaged. However, if the drum makes unusual noises, such as grinding or screeching, as it turns or if it fails to turn without difficulty, then examine the drum bearing and replace it if need be. This is  a high probability if Dryer Drum Not Turning .

Cause 5 – Drum Support Roller and Axle

The majority of dryers have two drum rollers on the back of the drum, however, some dryers have two additional rollers on the front of the drum. If they are working property, these rollers will rotate without difficulty. Regular use can damage the drum axles, causing the rollers to bind. If the rollers are damaged or binding, the motor will be unable to make the dryer turn. In order to determine whether the support rollers are damaged, you must remove the belt from the dryer and try to turn the drum by hand.

Cause 6 – Drum Support Bearing

The drum bearing supports the back side of the dryer drum. Regular use can cause the drum bearing is damage to become damaged. If the drum bearing is damaged, then it can place too great a burden on the motor, causing the dryer drum to stop rotating mid-cycle or not at all. In order to determine whether the drum bearing is functioning well, remove the dryer belt and try to turn the drum by hand. If the drum rotates without difficulty, then it is not likely that it is damaged. On the other hand, if the drum makes extraneous noises if drum bearing is damaged , such as grinding or screeching, as it turns or fails to turn without difficulty, then examine the drum bearing and replace it.

Cause 7 – Drum Slide, Glide, or Pad

One or more of the drum glides or slide might be damaged. The drum glides are small pieces of plastic on the front of the dryer drum that support it. As the dryer drum turns, it makes contact with these pieces of plastic. Regular use causes damage to the drum glides. If the drum glides become damaged, the drum binds, straining the motor. When this happens, the motor automatically turns off, and the dryer is unable to turn. To determine whether the drum glides are damaged, examine them for signs of damage. If one or more of the glides is damaged, then you must replace all of them.

Cause 8 – Drive Motor

The drive motor turns the drum and blower wheel in order to draw air from the dryer drum. Before anything, listen for a humming noise emanating from the motor. If the motor is humming, then remove the belt and check the blower wheel to ensure that nothing is obstructing it. Then try rotating the drum by hand. If the drum does not rotate without difficulty, check to see what is preventing the drum from turning.
